Idk, gotta rewatch it
I think about this movie a lot. Sometimes, it's about how beautiful it was - all of it. It had that "you should visit europe one day or maybe get a passport at some point" feel. Other times, it's about the relationship bit. Like fuck man this is some real cheatin' but with upper middle class well to do people in a set of really beautiful countries. I'm glad TCM also aired "Paris When It Sizzles" either before or immediately after this lol. More Audrey Hepburn kino, less moral ambiguity and more dumb, romcom fun. What a versatile actress.

On the topic of versatile actresses.. 👀 Obsession was great (!) but I wish I hadn't seen it. Horror slop sticks with me longer than I'd like, even if I was laughing my ass off during parts in the theater. Shit is creepy and ambiguous in a fun, clever but also kinda cardboard, don't think about certain plot points and character interactions so hard kinda way. More movies need to give characters 1 to 2 minute solo monologues. Actors can promo better than you'd think. Careers should absolutely be made from this movies. Like damn. Good job, people who put this thing together. The sound design was just allowed to be weird and basically its own character. All it takes is giving talented people a shot. That's literally it. Traditionally, Hollyweird manages to bog productions, waste money on nepotism and - generally, not give talented people, like the crew on this film, a chance. And thank you, idk how Hollyweird paid for this or decided to give it a wide release, but congrats for not making a bad decision on purpose for the first in time in like a decade. It's almost like these dumbass suits decided to actually make a profit instead of intentionally losing money (for write-offs). Idk. Hopefully this is a good sign of kino to come. I haven't left the theater as impacted by a modern romcom (Obsession was kind of a romcom) since No Hard Feelings. Fuck.

Warning: if you are sensitive about animal death, violence or gore, Obsession probably isn't for you. Like, it's weird, but I'll talk to guys who laugh about liveleak elevator videos, but they also cannot stomach animal related death and weird shit for some reason. Idk. I wish someone had warned me.

I love these movies, but I kind of wish I hadn't seen any of them. What's Up, Doc is the only romcom I'll ever need.
